Speech, Language, Voice, and/or Swallowing
Communication problems may arise in cases of **aphasia, motor speech disorders (e.g. dysarthria, apraxia)**, or even in the presence of **vocal nodules**.
Many neurological disorders such as Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease (PD), Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), and Acquired Apraxia of Speech can cause impairments in the ability to clearly articulate words or communicate successfully.
These same conditions may also lead to swallowing impairments (oropharyngeal dysphagia).
Some issues that we help with may include:
- difficulty in speaking or understanding speech
- weak, numb or unresponsive mouth muscles
- changes in timbre, volume or tone of voice
- eating and swallowing problems

You may need help with:
Cognitive-communication deficits can arise from various diagnoses including Traumatic Brain Injury, stroke or dementia. Evidenced-based treatments are available to help with these symptoms. Some of the symptoms we assist with include:
- inattentiveness or lack of focus
- mild to severe memory loss
- lack of self-control or self-awareness

About Converse With Confidence
Lindsey Ann Unger
Speech-Language Pathologist
CEO/Owner – Converse With Confidence, Inc.
Lindsey Ann Unger is a certified Medical Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) with 10 years of clinical experience.
Mrs. Unger earned her master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology at California State University Northridge (CSUN), and currently holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) as well as a California Speech-Language Pathology licensure.
She also holds advanced certifications in Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT-LOUD), LSVT eLOUD and SPEAK OUT!®, which addresses the motor speech deficits associated with Parkinsonism. She currently also holds two publications in the field.
Mrs. Unger opened Converse With Confidence, Inc. in April 2020 with the goal of providing convenient, consistent and quality SLP services for Californians in need. With the growth of telepractice, evolving technological advancements, and changes in the way we receive care due to the impact of COVID-19, patients are now able to stay in the safety and comfort of their own home and receive first-rate, high quality care from an experienced and trained provider.
